Second Trimester Tips – My Pregnancy Journey

pink shoes

They say the second trimester is a time of calm in the middle of your pregnancy journey. I believe it is, for the most part, true! While the second trimester isn’t all sunshine and rainbows, it is definitely the stage where I finally felt happy to pregnant!

Quite a lot happens in your second trimester. So I’m breaking it up into three phases that were each fairly distinct. And, of course, I’ll be sharing tips and advice on how to deal with the things the second part of your pregnancy might throw at you.

Throwing a Gender Reveal Party on a Budget

_DSC0552

I debated back and forth whether to have a gender reveal party, but ultimately I knew it would be a fun and wonderful time! We wanted to be able to tell as many close relatives in person as possible as well as some friends that we haven’t been able to see much since we moved back from Egypt. Overall, we just really wanted to share this exciting piece of news with the people we cared about!

We managed to pull off a party for 20 people for under 150$! I’ll walk you through the different areas and what we did to have a cute, backyard gender reveal party.

22 weeks in, and we still don’t know what we will call our baby. Yet I’ve been thinking about baby names for YEARS! Long before I even met Wayne.

Since travel is a great passion for many people (myself included), I thought it would be neat to share some travel related names for all you travel-loving folks! Maybe this list will help you out if you’re still searching for that perfect name.

Meaning behind the name is very important to me, and if it is for you too, I explain the meaning and origin of the name! They are separated into two categories for a total of 40 names. Each list comes with it’s own Pin image so you can pin for later reference!

My Pregnancy Journey – The First Trimester

cover photo

This is a milestone week. I’m now 20 weeks into my pregnancy – the halfway point – and time is starting to go by quite fast!

Finding out you’re pregnant for the first, whether it was planned or unexpected, will inevitably bring you to a place called: the unknown. As a first time mom, I felt like I knew so little about pregnancy after meeting with my doctor and doing research (which included binge-watching mom youtubers). Even though I had grown up exposed to babies and pregnant women, there is SO much that happens behind the scenes, on a day-to-day basis, that I was never aware of.

Today, I want to share with you what I experienced and learned in my first trimester. If you are newly pregnant, or planning to become pregnant, hopefully some of this insight will help you out. Every pregnancy is different, but if you are reading something I’m describing and you go “yes! That’s exactly how I feel! So glad I’m not alone!” then that’s exactly how I want you to feel. That being said, I’m not a doctor, so don’t ever hesitate to contact yours (or your doula) for advice or concerns!

Our New Adventure – Breaking the Silence

StockSnap_E54H1USMW5

Are you a planner type of person? The kind who tries to map out their life plans for the next year and next 3-5 years? I have a tendency to do that. So when something unexpected comes up and throws off some of my plans, it can take me a while to mentally and emotionally adjust. I don’t mean something small, like the weather taking a turn for the worse and cancelling your weekend plans. I mean BIG unexpected things that pretty much change your whole life and flip it upside down.

10 Signs You Have Baby Fever

baby preview

Several months before our wedding, my baby fever began. Maybe it was because of all my adorable nieces and nephews being born and growing into adorable toddlers. Maybe it was because of that song “first comes love, then comes marriage…“.

Whatever it was, once it started, while it ebbs and flows, it never really went away. I still get baby fever.

Having kids is obviously a huge decision, and one that we have decided to take very carefully due to our lifestyle. But, that doesn’t mean I don’t daydream once in a while!

So while we still are not sure when we will start planning to grow our family, I decided to indulge and create a list of 10 signs of baby fever for those who have not yet had a baby, but want to! Do you have any of these signs? Let’s find out!

Being Real in 2017

mountain-lake-1030924_1920

As 2016 was coming to a close, I was rattling my brain about what to write to commemorate the end of one year and the beginning of a new one. I had a few ideas, I saw many other travel bloggers who posted their end of year posts, but I really wanted to mark a new chapter in the journey of this blog. There have been many things on my mind and on my heart about the direction I want to go not just with this blog, but with life in general, and how I want this tool, this blog, to reflect it.

Before I get ahead of myself, I do want to reflect back on 2016 and celebrate the moments, accomplishments and count our blessings.

How I Actually Afford to Travel

how-i-actually-2

Like you, I have read many articles with the over-confident titles: “10 Ways You can Travel for FREE!”, because who doesn’t want to travel around at no cost? But each time I read them I think, sure, I could get a job working in the Arctic saving polar bears, or do manual labor on an organic farm, and buy ALL the air miles-collecting credit cards…but do I actually want to?

The short answer: no. I have a different lifestyle in mind. Now, I don’t mind travelling cheaply! That I’m all over. To me, it’s a lot more doable, and there are plenty of options.

25 Life Lessons – Turning 25

25 bright

The day has arrived. Today I turn 25. I feel a step closer to fully embodying an “adult”. I graduated, got married, began my career, am managing my finances, and continue to pursue my passion of travelling as well as others, such as this blog.

At first I was resisting this chapter of life, being so fond of my early twenties, but now, I am very excited for this next phase of life. I now have the courage, discipline, confidence and experience I need for the goals and dreams I have for the next coming years.
